ON TO THE NEXT ONE

Note to self: You’re here. You’re comfortable. Don’t get used to it.

 

Life has a way of reminding us that we’re stagnating. The routine boredom kicks in, the same conversations are had, there’re no new journal entries and thanks to Facebook reminders, a few years ago on this day, you seemed way cooler. Like the above picture taken by Muema Nzomo of the few who made the peak.

Granted, you’re much wiser on this day, than on this day a few years ago, but you’re starting to stagnate dear.

Naturally, I made a list to shake things up.

  1. Dance or sing

Find me at the stop light singing to the song in my head. Yes, Dear. I might get carried away and dance on my bike, but see you at the next stop light lady in the red car. I hope you dance though.

  1. Pick up your camera

It might be something different for you. What have you always been talking about, that you’ll get back to? There’s always time to do what you love.

  1. Explore your ‘unknown’

What are you afraid of? What’s the worst that could happen? What if you didn’t know all the answers? What if there were more questions than answers?

The ‘What If’s’ never end, dear.

So get out there, climb that mountain and the next one and the next one and THE NEXT ONE.
